Cadet 240V Baseboard Heater – Wall Mounted Thermostat Replacement
Customer called and said that the electric baseboard heaters are not working proper. The dial sticks and the details are worn off. Looking to restore correct working thermostat.

Today’s training will include:
Safe isolation of 240V circuit, thermostat accuracy testing, and like-for-like replacement of wall-mounted, double-pole, line voltage thermostat.

1. Safety Start with OFF
                Contractor Responsibility
VERIFY 240V IS ABSENT WITH A METER
                Confirm both legs are de-energized
                Use insulated electrical tools
Note: 240V heaters use two hot legs. Always verify both before handling wiring.

2. Identify Thermostat Type
Confirm wall-mounted line voltage thermostat (not
                low voltage)
                Verify 240V rating
Check amperage rating matches heater load
                Confirm single-pole or double-pole configuration
                Inspect:• Burn marks • Loose terminals •
                Discolored wiring

3. Testing Thermostat Accuracy
                Restore power temporarily for testing
                Measure supply voltage (L1 to L2 ≈ 240V)
                Turn thermostat ON
                Verify output voltage to heater
Compare room temperature to thermostat setting
Understand Baseboard Voltage loss vs.
Thermostat Break

4. Like-for-Like Replacement
                Match voltage and amperage rating
                Match pole configuration
Transfer wires one at a time
                Secure connections tightly
Confirm proper wire routing inside box
                Mount thermostat level and secure

5. Final Testing
                Restore Power
                Set thermostat above room temperature
                Confirm heater energizes
                Monitor heater with laser
Verify shut-off at approximate set temperature

Summary:
The customer noticed their baseboard heater was not holding temperature. Power was safely disconnected and verified at 240 volts. Testing confirmed the wall thermostat was not switching properly. A like-for-like replacement thermostat was installed, matched for voltage and amperage. After restoring power, the heater energized correctly and cycled off near the desired setting. The system is operating safely and as intended.
